iDisco is now available on the BIC !!

Dear users, we now propose the iDisco method which allows to immunolabel and visualize specific structures in large tissue samples such as an entire adult mouse brain.

This method is simple and inexpensive. It enables deep antibody penetration for deep tissue labeling and results in a high transparency.

About 40 primary antibodies are compatible with the process. We had successful results with several of them:

  • GFP, mCherry (for virus injection or transgenic mice)
  • cFOS (for detection of endogenous proteins)

We are planning to test more as soon as we can in the coming months…

These transparent samples are perfectly adapted for observation on a light sheet microscope like the Ultramicroscope available at the BIC. This microscope permits high speed volume imaging of entire organs. Moreover, with a maximum resolution of 1 x 1 x 5 µm (XYZ) it is possible to count cells or to visualize fine neurons projections.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested. We will be happy to discuss your future projects!

You will find some examples of our results, we hope you will enjoy them!

We thank Mireille Montcouquiol and Maité Moreau (U1215 INSERM-Institut François Magendie) for providing the samples.

See you soon on the BIC!
